Walter M. Mychalchyk, 79, of Monroe Twp. passed away on Thursday March 12, 2020 at CentraState Medical Center in Freehold. Walter was born in New Brunswick and raised in Jamesburg before moving to Monroe Twp. in 1980. He proudly served his country in the US Army. He was owner/operator of A-1 Portable Welding until his retirement in 1986. He was president of Middlesex County SPCA and chief of the Middlesex County SPCA Law Enforcement Division. He also worked with the State Police Dept. and Jamesburg Police Dept. along with his dog, Onyx, in the narcotics division. Walter was a lifetime member of the Jamesburg Elks Lodge 2180.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Ruth Mychalchyk and his daughter, Karen Mychalchyk.
He is survived by his son, Jeff Mychalchyk and his wife Lori of Manalapan, and his daughter, Chris Mychalchyk of Hampton, GA and two granddaughters, Sarah Mychalchyk and Jillian Mychalchyk. Also surviving are extended family and friends.
Visitation will be 1-4pm on Sunday March 15, 2020 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc. - 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ 08831 - 732-521-0555. Cremation is private.
