Patricia K. Brix

Patricia K. Brix, 95, of Monroe Township, passed away on Friday, November 20, 2020, peacefully at her home. Born and raised in Queens, New York, to the late Joseph and Anna (Doyle) Kilkenny, she, and her siblings, Joseph and Eileen, were part of a large, fun-loving Irish family. She graduated from St. Agnes High School in College Point, NY and attended Grace Institute for secretarial training. At a Knights of Columbus dance, Pat met the love of her life, Bob Brix, a friend of her brother. Pat and Bob raised their family of six and left their indelible marks on the communities of Flushing, New York; Crystal Lake, Illinois; and Huntington, New York. They retired to Rossmoor in Monroe in 1993 and spent many happy years on the golf course and babysitting grandkids. Pat (Grammy to her family) was an active member of Rossmoor’s Women’s Nine Holers golf club and the Emerald Society. She was an ardent supporter of her beloved parish of Nativity of Our Lord in Monroe Township. She and Bob helped build the parish from a school gymnasium to the beautiful church it is today. Her family was her life, and she was theirs. She raised six children, with whom she shared her deep faith in God and never ceased to try to impart on them her love of cleaning. “Cleanliness is next to Godliness” was her motto, and her grandchildren will always, always remember to wear an undershirt because of Grammy. “It keeps you warm.” They loved her and adored her sharp wit.

She is predeceased by her parents, her beloved husband Robert E. Brix, her siblings, Eileen Stepanick and Joseph Kilkenny Jr., and her beloved son-in-law Jay O’Neill. She prayed to all of them daily.

She is survived by her children Patricia Brix, S.C., Robert E. Brix Jr. (Carol), Ann O’Neill, Kathleen Fallon (John), Timothy Brix (Christine), and Jennifer Laurash (Jayme); her grandchildren Meghan (Drew Weber), James, and Brian O’Neill; Michael and Patrick (Chrissy) Brix; Sean, Caitlin (Ryan Foley) and Conor Fallon; Timothy (Tatiana Filajdić), Daniel, and Kevin Brix; and Emma, Brynn, and Madelyn Laurash; and by her great-grandchildren, Logan, Jordan and Serena Brix. She is survived by her many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Though housebound with severe arthritic pain, she proudly voted on November 6, 2020. To share a verse from her favorite song at church, which she has loved since first hearing it at her twins' graduation mass from St. Mel's elementary school: “With every step I take Let this be my solemn vow, To take each moment and live each moment in peace eternally. Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me.”
